Bio
I am a semi-retired opera singer who is currently embarking on a new journey that will end, God-willing, with seminary and ordination as an Episcopal priest.

I live with my husband of twenty years in a house that's way too big for us in a suburb that's way to conservative for us. The four cats we live with (Musetta, Jelly, Kiza, and Hank) love the space, however, and are way too smart to get involved with politics. NOTE: We have moved into a smaller place, but in a much nicer area. The cats are fine with it--especially the radiators.

I was born in Duluth, MN; grew up in Roseville, MN; and currently reside in Circle Pines, MN (now Minneapolis). In addition, I have had non-Minnesota residences in Boston, MA and Angers, France. I speak French fluently, German indifferently, and Italian almost not at all (although I pronounce it very well). I can find a bathroom in almost all of the EU, at any rate.

I have a degree in theater from the U of MN. I started out as a stage manager, but I was also performing in a strange band, the Albany Free Traders. When that group broke up, as most garage bands do, another rose from the ashes. This band, called DNA for no good reason that I can figure out, played mostly dives where the air was blue with smoke. So, in an effort to preserve my voice, I started taking voice lessons. One thing led to another and soon I was singing opera. After performing for awhile, I got a hankering to direct, so I did that for awhile and loved it. The final step in my theatrical evolution is writing a musical with a friend of mine in New York.

Because none of the aforementioned activities actually pay anything, I currently work for a non-profit tobacco control legal technical assistance company (THERE'S a mouthful!) as an administrative assistant. Many people would opine that working for 7 attorneys is like being in hell, but I love 'em.

I don't know what this journal will be about. Certainly I hope to reflect on my spiritual journey as it progresses, but maybe I'll just muse. I need the writing practice.
